VIrtual center with Triangle Architecture and CYber-resilience

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - VITACY (VIrtual center with Triangle Architecture and CYber-resilience)

Berichtszeitraum: 2023-06-01 bis 2024-12-31

As Europe modernizes its Air Traffic Management (ATM) system to create a more efficient and flexible "Digital European Sky," the VITACY project is playing a key role in this transformation. One of the main goals of the project is to update the traditional ATM infrastructure by introducing a new architecture concept called "Triangle Architecture”. This type of architecture breaks down the services of a single ATM Data Service Provider (ADSP) into smaller, specialized services. This way, air traffic services can pick the optimal provider for specific tasks, without needing to invest in additional hardware.
This Virtual Centre architecture allows also different ADSPs to work together in a more coordinated and flexible way, following the European ATM Master Plan.
In this project the following ADSPs will be modified with triangle architecture by defining and developing new standard virtual centre services:
• AMAN (Arrival management)
• TBS (Time Based Separation)
• CD/R (Conflict Detection and Resolution)
• D-MAN (Departure Management)
Additionally, VITACY is focused on making the system more secure by creating cyber-resilience tools, ensuring that air traffic control systems remain safe from cyber threats.
In short, VITACY is changing how air traffic services are delivered, making them more flexible, efficient, and safe in this digital age.
The first period of the VITACY project, corresponding to the initial 19 months, has mainly focused in:
• Generation of first iterations of contractual deliverables.
• Development of validation prototypes.
