Innovative Lösungen für die natürliche Bestäubung
Die wichtige Aufgabe von Bestäubern in der Landwirtschaft kann gar nicht hoch genug eingeschätzt werden. Angesichts des Rückgangs der Bienenpopulationen und unvorhersehbarer Wetterbedingungen wird der Bedarf an alternativen Lösungen für die Bestäubung immer deutlicher. In diesem Zusammenhang werden im Rahmen des EU-finanzierten Projekts HoverPollination zwei neue natürliche Bestäuber vorgestellt: Glänzende Faulschlammschwebfliege (Eristalinus aeneus) und Mistbiene (Eristalis tenax). Diese hocheffizienten Schwebfliegen, die auch als Blumenfliegen bezeichnet werden, sind an eine Reihe von Umweltbedingungen angepasst. Die glänzende Faulschlammschwebfliege gedeiht in heißem und sonnigem Mittelmeerklima, während die Mistbiene in kühleren, bewölkten Regionen wie Nordeuropa gut gedeiht. Sie ahmen das Verhalten der Bienen bei der Blütensuche nach, indem sie Blumen besuchen, um Pollen und Nektar zu sammeln. Die innovative Lösung von Polyfly bietet für eine nachhaltige Bestäubung in der Landwirtschaft Hoffnung.
