First application and market replication of a cost-effective and sustainable industrial wastewater purification system with ozone oxidation and flotation technique for water conservation and reuse.

Ziel

This ApplyAdoxpol-proposal describes how the SME Normex and its SME-partners plan to take their innovative ozone-based wastewater purification technology all the way to the market, enabling both water saving and reuse in the food and beverage sector. Central in the technology is a novel ozone injection unit developed to maximize the oxidation process with minimal amount of ozone. The ozone allows the oxidation of recalcitrant substances and with the development of a flotation chamber this enhance the optimal diffusion of micro-bubbles, coalescence of colloidal materials and efficient removal of agglomeration of coagulating froth/adsorbed pollutants.
Now, the partners will develop a plan for initial roll-out of the technology into production, including design specific actions and a business plan which secure market penetration and a sustainable future joint business.
The technology is based on an idea from Managing Director Stig Johansen, Normex, and was further developed in the FP6 Craft project Adoxpol. For the Adoxpol project Normex joined forces with the same SME partners they are teaming up with in this project (except one). The project enabled the partners to outsource the R&D needed to develop and demonstrate the technology. During the F6 project, the technology was deployed and demonstrated with success at selected end user groups in the food processing and beverages sector. For validating the commercial viability of the technology, a pilot plant was constructed and tested at Olisnice Abattoir in Brno, the Czech Republic, at Napro Pharma, a producer of fish oils from salmon and cod and shark liver and at Epax, producer of marine-based Omega-3 EPA/DHA fatty acids, both Aalesund, Norway.
The Adoxpol project (COOP-CT2005-018157) was finalized in 2007. After finalizing the FP6 project, Normex has looked for possibilities to take the technology to the marked, and has yet again joined forces with the Adoxpol partners, now to apply for CIP Eco-innovation funding.
