Supporting platform for airport decision-making and efficiency analysis

Ziel

One of the major challenges in the Strategic Research Agenda for European Aeronautics is that airport utilisation will be able to accommodate rising traffic without undue delays, while preserving safety, improving efficiency and service, and reducing the burden of operations on the environment.

This implies that airport stakeholders and policy makers face challenging airport decision-making problems with strong interdependencies and with often-conflicting objectives. To support them, there is not yet a user-friendly, fully integrated tool-set supporting strategic-level and tactical/operational-level decision making related to airport (airside and landside) planning, development and operations, and allowing an integrated impact analysis.

The SPADE project aims to develop a seamlessly integrated computational platform that will enable to support policy and political decisions related to airport (including airside and landside) development, planning and operations, allowing an integrated impact analysis with respect to a variety of measures of effectiveness (e.g. capacity, delay, level of service, safety, security, noise, and cost-benefit). This platform will address a number of important airport planning, development, and operations decisions through a pre-structured, pre-specified and guided, "wizard-type, navigation.

The present proposal concerns
Phase 1. ¿he development of a complete design of the platform and mock-ups for showing the functionality of the platform. These mock-ups will be instrumental in presenting what SPADE plans to achieve in.
Phase 2. To achieve the objectives, a standard lifecycle approach is followed, with use cases as the integrating factor between work packages.

The main activities will concern:
-Definition of user requirements and use cases
-Specification and design of the platform
-Development of mock-ups
