Draft synchronous control functions and resource abstraction considerations

This deliverable will contain draft concepts for synchronous control functions in 5G and a resource abstraction framework, and will be an essential input to D 2.2, due in month 12.

Draft asynchronous control functions and overall control plane design

This deliverable will contain the description of a first set of asynchronous control functions and a draft of the overall control plane design.

Final synchronous control functions and resource abstraction considerations

This deliverable will contain the final synchronous control functions and resource abstraction considerations, which will then be integrated into the overall control plane design in D 6.2 in month 22.

Final 5G visualization

This deliverable will summarize the final status of the open source visualisation platform, which at this point will be used to showcase all key 5G RAN design concepts investigated in METIS-II, and document its usage at various external events, as for instance MEC 2016.

Draft overall 5G RAN design

This deliverable will contain draft considerations on an overall RAN design, building upon deliverables D 3.1, D 4.1, D 5.1 and D 6.1, and providing a summary of the current status of the key innovation pillars in the METIS-II project. The deliverable will also provide answers to the key 5G RAN design questions posed in Section 1.2. This deliverable will lead to project milestone 2 “Key 5G RAN design questions clarified”.

Final asynchronous control functions and overall control plane design

This will cover the final set of asynchronous control functions and the overall control plane design, harmonized with the user plane design proposed in WP 4, the synchronous control functions and the resource abstraction considerations from WP 5.

Performance evaluation results

This deliverable will contain the qualitative and quantitative results of the performance evaluation of the key 5G RAN design concepts investigated in METIS-II, and subsequently provide recommendations for the most beneficial concepts.

Performance evaluation framework

This deliverable will contain the performance evaluation framework and guidelines for which consensus has been reached with other 5G-PPP projects.

Project quality assurance plan

This deliverable will describe procedures for ensuring quality of the deliverables and procedures for handling external relations.

Refined scenarios and requirements, consolidated test cases, and qualitative techno-economic feasibility assessment

This deliverable will contain the refined scenarios, consolidated test cases and related KPIs and requirements, for which consensus has been found within 5G-PPP. The deliverable also contains the qualitative techno-economic assessment of the refined scenarios and test cases. The consolidated spectrum scenarios, delivered by WP 3, are also part of this deliverable.

Dissemination and exploitation report

This deliverable will present all the dissemination and exploitation activities performed in METIS-II.

Final air interface harmonization and user plane design

This deliverable will contain the final concepts on air interface harmonization and user plane design, which will serve as a key input to the overall 5G RAN design in D 2.4.

METIS-II final project report

This deliverable will present the overall non-technical results and insights from the project and preparations for the final review of the project.

Roadmap to enable and secure sufficient access to adequate spectrum for 5G

This deliverable gives the roadmap to enable and secure sufficient access to adequate spectrum for 5G. This includes quantity and quality assessment of the spectrum demand for 5G user groups, recognizing respective candidate bands considered for WRC-18/19, novel dynamic spectrum access concepts, and necessary technical enablers, 5G spectrum management architecture, and a consolidated view about spectrum regulation and usage.

Spectrum scenarios, requirements and rationale for 5G bands above 6 GHz

This is an enhanced and extended version of R 3.1, taking into account the results of WRC-15, feedback from other WPs, other projects in 5G-PPP, and other stakeholders outside of 5G-PPP. This deliverable gives the overall view on future needs and usage scenarios, resulting in requirements for spectrum (including technical justification and rationale), combining information from the wireless industry as well as vertical industries. This deliverable is joint work with WP 1 and uses the same feedback mechanisms together with WP 1 in linking with the world outside METIS-II.

Final overall 5G RAN design

This deliverable will contain the final overall 5G RAN design provided by the METIS-II project, building upon the technical contributions from WPs 3-6 and the performance and techno-economic assessment provided by Tasks 2.2 and 1.2, respectively. The deliverable will also provide a crisp summary of the 5 key innovation pillars that have been developed in the METIS-II project.

Draft air interface harmonization and user plane design

This deliverable will contain the draft air interface harmonization and user plane design considerations. Most importantly, this will contain a first recommendation on which and how many novel air interface variants are expected to be introduced in the 5G context, which forms of air interface aggregation and user plane provisioning are foreseen for 5G, and on which protocol level novel air interfaces should ideally be integrated among each other and with legacy technologies. This deliverable will be a crucial input to e.g. D 2.2, due in month 12, and an essential prerequisite to achieve milestone 2 “Key 5G RAN design questions clarified”.

Quantitative techno-economic feasibility assessment

This deliverable will contain the techno-economic feasibility assessment of key 5G RAN design concepts investigated in METIS-II w.r.t. the scenarios and test cases refined in Task 1.1.

Dissemination and exploitation plan

This deliverable will include all the partners’ plans for dissemination and exploitation activities within METIS-II.

Preliminary 5G visualisation

This deliverable will summarize the concept and current status of the open source visualisation platform, which at this point will be able to showcase a subset of the 5G RAN design concepts investigated in METIS-II.
