SEDNA Arctic Bridge Operating Procedures Manual

D3.7 will address the refinement of existing bridge and navigation team operating procedures and the development of new procedures for the safe and effective operation of the Arctic Bridge.

Future Research Roadmap

D5.4 will provide a roadmap for the future development of the SEDNA safety solutions and its current and future associated technologies.

Safe Shipping Intelligence – knowledge base, accident causation models, accident scenarios

D4.2 will identify and define future safety barriers necessary for the safe navigation of ships in the Arctic.

Formal inputs to international regulatory regimes reports

D5.5 will provide information (INF) papers to IMO and reports to relevant organisations/forums with consultative status at the IMO summarising the main findings of the projects and possible recommendations for safety actions.

Gender Action Plan

D7.5 will include a detailed gender-neutral work plan of the individuals involved in SEDNA and measures to identify and monitor the gender balance in it.

Regulatory Framework

D1.1 will provide a project baseline and regulatory framework for the SEDNA safety solutions.

Optimised forecast products

D3.1 will deliver new regional weather and sea ice probability forecast products, including specifications (M5), customization (M12), format (M18) and final products (M24).

Safer Shipping Innovation Vision and Goals

D1.3 will provide fully validated project mission, innovation targets, evaluation criteria and metrics.

SEDNA sustainability and impact evaluation

D5.2 will provide: a. Impact assessment framework. b. Impact measuring models. c. Impact assessment, feasibility and viability
results and report.

Arctic Shipping Future Trends report

D1.2 will identify key ‘What if?’ future scenarios and produce Horizon Scanning reports.

Arctic Risk-Based Design Framework

D2.1 will deliver the Arctic Risk-based Design Framework which will include: a. Description of the preliminary Bayesian Network [M5] b. Analysis the possible ship-ice interaction scenarios [M12] c. Description of the updated Bayesian Network [M18] d. Description of new framework to apply risk based design [M24]

Knowledge Base and Intelligent data processing and Information Management Services

D4.1 will deliver the Services’ specification (M5, 8), the Mining Services (M12) and the High level fusion services (M12, 24).

Safety Assessment of LFPF

D4.3 will consider the implications for the environment and for vessels and their crews of projected accidents were the vessels involved (a) using low flash point fuels (LFPF) and (b) using conventional fossil fuels

Validated forecast products and ice monitoring system

D3.3 will deliver validated regional weather and sea ice probability forecast products and ice monitoring system.

SEDNA impact demonstration

Production & characterisation of adherent, robust and efficient icephobic coatings

Structural, composition, adhesion, hardness, wear, abrasion, UV, biofouling and corrosion resistant testings, laboratory ice-phobicity & de-icing assessments a. nanocomposite coatings [M5]; b. biomimetic anti-icing coatings [M12]; c. energy efficient electro-thermal coatings [M18]; d. Smart and multifunctional coatings with integrated anti-icing/de-icing capabilities [M24].

Safe Arctic Bridge

Deliver design concept of Safe Arctic Bridge a. Interaction architecture allowing integration of new information supporting arctic navigation and operation. b. Virtual demonstrator of physical ship bridge structure c. Augmented Reality demonstration of applications supporting safe arctic navigation and operation. At months 5,12,18 and 24 iterative Safe Arctic Bridge designs and partial software and physical implementations will be delivered to allow for interim evaluation of the bridge concept by the project’s industry stakeholders, Advisory Board and Scientific Committee to maximise the probability of success.

Production and optimisation of large area prototypes anti-icing/de-icing coatings

D2.3 will provide prototypes of optimised of large area anti-icing/de-icing coatings for field trials

Ice monitoring system

D3.2 will deliver the ship based ice monitoring system with sea ice identification and characterisation.

Multi-objective Arctic Voyage Optimisation system

Implementation of multi-objective Arctic voyage optimisation with intermediate versions to aid rapid prototyping cycles of the Safe Arctic Bridge.

Arctic Navigation & Communications Solutions, Roadmaps & Mitigation Strategies

D3.6 will provide the outcome of the technical review of navigation technologies in an Arctic context, will identify solutions to be implemented in the framework of the projects and provide recommendations for future developments.

Codified Arctic Navigation Knowledge Base

D3.5 will identify and codify best practices of safe Arctic navigation into proposed standard operating procedures.

CWA on Methanol Bunkering processes

D4.4 will deliver a CEN Workshop Agreement on Methanol Bunkering processes, circulated to the CEN National Members for announcement.

Dissemination, Web Portal and communication material

D6.3 will provide: a. Web portal and initial content (M2) then maintained web portal with updated content. b. Project publication material (M2) c. Information Observatory including inventory, structuring and publishing via the web portal of relevant information, transferring information into knowledge 
(initial M12, revise final M36) d. Dissemination plan with a strategy targeting the different relevant stakeholders in an effective way, generally describing the intended applied and scientific dissemination activities (M3) e. Yearly update of the dissemination plan with a specification of the intended dissemination activities in the next year.
