Sintesi del contesto e degli obiettivi generali del progetto

Windak is a world leading specialist in cable packaging machinery originating in Sweden 1994. Our first client was Volvo for a complete pallet handling packaging system. Since our inception to the present day our innovative technologies include high speed rewind lines for fiber optic cable, fully automatic spooling lines, versatile coiling lines, a multitude of palletizers and breakthrough coiling solutions for packaging cable products into boxes or bags. We have delivered our products to 30 countries worldwide and our customers are amongst the leaders of industry. We are proud to announce that we have a 60% market share in the North American market.
We strive for innovative products and we have the next generation product, the ZERO260. Operationally it outperforms everything else on the market in several key areas. We have managed to double operational capacity, reduce the machinery footprint to one-third and allow for continuous, uninterrupted production as our machine does not need to be switched off during cable changeovers. The launch of this technology will allow Europe to maintain its market dominance in the sector and mitigate the threat from India, China and Taiwan.

The feasibility study has shown that it is motivated for Windak to continue development, industrialisation and commercial launch of the new machine. The market is ripe for a product of this type mainly due to increasing attention paid to productivity aspects of manufacturing operations. With ZERO260, Windak is well positioned to fill a clear gap on the market and experience accelerated growth. The key activities required to launch the new machine will be development and validation efforts undertaken with selected reference users and early adopters of the new technology. Those have already been identified and the talks have been initiated. It is our intention to initiate the commercialisation project without delay to gain first mover advantage.

Our established market position and the existing customer base will provide us with enhanced opportunities to launch the product quickly. Windak’s existing customers have a lot of trust in the technical capabilities of the company and will be willing to test the new machine. Once the first end-user cases have been established, we will approach new markets and new customer segments. The feasibility assessment and the discussions with the coach have highlighted several opportunities regarding scaling of the business across different industry verticals. The technology is relevant to any player that needs optimisation of cable packaging processes, and is of high interest especially in price and margin-sensitive industries such as automotive.
