Aufwertung wissenschaftlicher Studien im Bereich der Migration
Im Verlauf der jüngsten Migrationskrise wandelte sich Serbien zu einem Migrationskorridor und hatte Probleme, diese neuen Herausforderungen zu bewältigen. Auch die wissenschaftlichen Kenntnisse in diesem Bereich waren begrenzt. Das EU-finanzierte Projekt MIGREC wird die Aufwertung der Universität Belgrad mit Schulungsmöglichkeiten für Forschende und Studierende in Migrationsstudien unterstützen und koordinieren. Im Projekt werden Integrationsrichtlinien, Entwicklungsprozesse und Verwaltung von Migration erforscht. Als Ergebnis wird ein Forschungszentrum für Migration, Integration und Steuerung (Migration, Integration and Governance Research Centre – MIGREC) gegründet, an dem auch die Universität Sheffield im Vereinigten Königreich und die griechische Stiftung für Europa- und Außenpolitik sowie das südosteuropäische Forschungszentrum beteiligt sein werden.
Ziel
MIGREC is a three year research capacity building project in the field of Migration Studies at the Faculty of Political Science
(FPN) of the University of Belgrade (UoB). The project focuses on upgrading UoB staff academic capacity in order to
contribute effectively to migration related research with policy impact on the rising challenges that Serbia faces today.
MIGREC will bring life to a joint, well-structured coordination and support approach designed to ensure an effective infusion
of state-of-the-art research knowledge in three areas that emerge as specific challenges: integration, the migration-development
nexus and migration governance. FPN is leading the MIGREC consortium, which also includes the University
of Sheffield, UK, the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy, Greece and the Southeast European Research
Centre, Greece. MIGREC aims at upgrading migration related research excellence and impact at FPN and at coordinating
already existing dispersed academic knowledge throughout the University. The outcome of the project will be the creation of
a Migration, Integration and Governance Research Centre (MIGREC), which will ensure the sustainability of Migration Studies at
FPN through training, coordination and mentoring of staff and students, as well as, through the creation of a Research
Strategy and Agenda and a Doctoral Studies Program.
