Advanced Multimodal Photonics Laser Imaging Tool for Urothelial Diagnosis in Endoscopy

Deliverables

Multi-modal imaging at deep penetration depths in the 3rd bio-window with 850nm AF using one primary laser source (opens in new window)

A de-scanned configuration (passing also through a confocal pinhole) will be used form measuring the elastic scattered light. A non-descanned configuration will be used to measure either the THG or the SHG signal from the sample. Importantly, the three signals will be generated simultaneously, and therefore, perfectly overlapping. The collected data will give the information about best laser output parameters (wavelength, output power, repetition rate, peak power).

Imaging of bladder cancer metabolic biomarkers using TPEF, ThPEF and Raman (opens in new window)

Results of preliminary imaging of bladder cancer using standalone Raman, TPEF and ThPEF techniques using the first iteration of the laser prototypes.

Proof of principal imaging through an endoscopic probe (opens in new window)

Results showing high resolution and quality multimodal nonlinear imaging within a large and deep scanning area.

Metabolomic and transcriptomic analysis of preclinical models of bladder cancer (opens in new window)

Metabolic profile obtained by integrating fluorescence and Raman analysis, metabolomics and transcriptomics data, using mathematical models trained by co-cultures results, will be used to create a scoring algorithm able to assess the metabolic-based aggressiveness or rate of tumour progression profile relevant for diagnostic purpose.

Workshop with clinicians and relevant stakeholders to demonstrate and discuss the developed diagnostic solutions.
