A steering committee consisting of relevant Ministries’ representatives and stakeholders groups assisted the managing team in building the conference programme including identification of suitable speakers. A conference agency was hired to conduct communication activities such as creating a visual identity and website for the event, social media publications, managing the registration process of the conference participants.
The conference was successfully organized with an audience of 170 people from 26 countries. The majority of participants represented the public sector, industry, research and NGOs. Ten students between the ages of 13 and 16 also contributed to the discussion in the form of the Future Generation Panel. The live stream of the conference was followed by 162 individual viewers. The conference used various ways to engage participants and enhance the discussion. The Future Generation Panel acted as a sounding board, presenting fresh ideas on innovation and public policy. Ample time was devoted to questions and comments from the audience. Speakers, participants and live stream followers were active on social media with their key messages. A conference app helped polling views on the way forward for the Innovation Principle.
The keynote speaker of the conference was Professor Karen Yeung, Interdisciplinary Professorial Fellow in Law, Ethics and Informatics at the Birmingham Law School & School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham. Another keynote speaker was CEO Christian Bason, Danish Design Centre, with the presentation on innovation skills and capabilities of the future public sector. In addition, there were two panel discussions and a series of examples on how to develop legislative culture innovation in mind.
Results of conference are presented in the final report published in February 2020.
