La microgranulazione per una ceramica «verde»
Le piastrelle di ceramica, che spesso è il materiale prediletto da architetti e progettisti d’interni, sono presenti nelle case di tutto il mondo. Solo in Italia, i fabbricanti producono centinaia di milioni di piastrelle di ceramica all’anno. Le piastrelle vengono realizzate mediante un «processo a umido», un metodo che consuma una grande quantità di acqua ed energia termica. Esso non è solamente costoso, ma esercita anche un impatto significativo sull’ambiente. Il progetto MIGRATECH 4.0. finanziato dall’UE, sta sviluppando un nuovo metodo basato su una tecnologia di microgranulazione. Questo nuovo processo consente la produzione di ceramica di alta qualità diminuendo drasticamente l’utilizzo di acqua, energia ed emissioni di CO2. Esso permette inoltre di ridurre i costi di produzione, il che comporterà un incremento nella sostenibilità e nella competitività dei prodotti ceramici.
Obiettivo
Established in 1973, our company LB designs, develops and manufactures production machinery and turnkey manufacturing plants for the ceramic industry – from raw material handling equipment to manufacturing equipment for tiles. We also offer complete systems for the production of premixes for the building trade and for powder treatment in various industrial fields.
Our latest development, the micro-granulation technology Migratech 4.0 will revolutionise the ceramic tile manufacture: it not only enhances product quality but drastically reduces the operation costs and the significant environmental impact associated to the process. Indeed, the “wet process”, predominantly used today in production of high quality ceramic tiles, consumes a large amount of water (dissipated but not recovered) and thermal energy (approx. 30% of the total manufacturing cost). There is therefore a growing need for a new process which can reduce the water and energy used in manufacture of ceramic tiles. Our solution for this need is Migratech 4.0 which provides the desired high-quality ceramic powder with homogenized particle size and low humidity; but with drastic reductions in used energy (-64%), water (-70%) and CO2 emissions (-64%) for a production costs of tile manufacture reduced by 30%.
Migratech 4.0 will increase sustainability and competitiveness in the whole ceramic tile supply chain while allowing our company to grow with +€46.5 million accumulated gross profits in 5 years of exploitation.
