Micro-granulation for 'green' ceramics
Often the first choice of architects and interior designers, ceramic tiles can be found in homes all over the world. In Italy alone, manufacturers produce hundreds of millions of ceramic tiles each year. The tiles are made using a 'wet process' method, which consumes a large amount of water and thermal energy. Not only is it costly, but it also has a significant impact on the environment. The EU-funded MIGRATECH 4.0. project is developing a new method based on micro-granulation technology. The new process allows the production of high-quality ceramics with drastically reduced use of water, energy and CO2 emissions. It also enables a reduction in production costs, which will increase the sustainability and competitiveness of ceramic products.
