Objective
The development of internet linked multimedia computers has created new opportunities for distance learning, but few training establishments have the resources for promoting initiatives in this field. This project aims to develop methodology for promoting networked systems in the education process and to demonstrate the potential of these through the design of training modules in the area of small company creation, a recognised growth area but one for which little training material is available for would-be entrepreneurs.
Partners will conduct a preliminary needs analysis of best practice in distance learning facilities. This will serve to define the method, procedures and equipment to be used in the distance learning centres which will be set up in the partner countries. Comprehensive information will be gathered on the authoring and teaching facilities the system will require. Modules will be developed for training in teaching material creation, technology-based teaching and teaching related activities. Demonstration modules for entrepreneurs covering such areas as accounting, economics, marketing and computing will be developed from existing conventional material by teachers trained in the new methodology and then tested and evaluated. Finalised products will include the methodology itself, author and teacher manuals and training manuals. They will be made available on a commercial basis.
Impact
The project will support the development of flexible distance learning systems, encourage the design of new technology based training programmes and promote positive attitudes towards life-long learning.
