Platform for ATM Tools Integration up to pre-Operation

Objectif

The PATIO project will develop an evolutionary and adaptable experimental platform to efficiently support the tools integration and validation activities of the ATM authorities, industry and R&D community.
It will cater for the suitability for tools integration and validation up to a pre-operational level, from a general and functional viewpoint. It will provide a sufficient degree of realism in the ATC or environment functions to support pre-operational activities, including the representation of various levels of ATC system integration, provision for the use of ATN and the coupling of systems external to the core ATM environment as airport or military ones. Simulation as well as operational data will be used to assess and validate the tools against a wide variety of situations. A set of standard interfaces and commonly agreed set of basic functions will be defined. The time horizon will cover the 3rd phase of EATCHIP and EATMS by means of easy adaptations to different operational concepts, airspace structures, cluster of tools and HMIs. The real-time and fast-forward simulation will be amongst the features of the PATIO platform which will also include flexibility, modularity, portability and scalability, this allows a widespread set of experiment up to full-scale experiments when integrating the tools for pre-operational testing. The ease of interconnection will allow the coupling with other simulation facilities (ATC simulators and aircraft simulators) and its enlargement for the overall ATM validation process (prototypes and mock-ups). Its development will proceed through an incremental approach with two major increments: a minimum platform composed of initial middleware version and low-level functionalities to provide the basis for the other components integration.
