Organizational self-renewal - process design

Obiettivo

The research explores how organisational renewal is affected in organisations. Particular emphasis is hereby placed on processes. A series of in-depth studies in British and German companies are developed and relevant processes mapped using an knowledge-based diagramming tool providing the empirical data base. The data of the individual companies is compared to test the theoretical models and related hypothesis. Organisations in different phases of growth and in different business sectors are deliberately chosen, assuming that organisational processes are similar regardless of these factors. It is assumed that the similarity of processes is determined by the necessity and nature of organising information and work flows. However it is assumed that differences in the processes as well as in the number of interconnections and of feedback loops exist when comparing high and average performing organisations. The individual models are compared to identify possible patterns that can be linked to the level of organisational performance.
