Development of some new nanostructured steel base and Chromium carbide cermet coatings

Nanostructured steel based coatings have been developed by a thermal spray HVOF technique. Regarding the tribological behaviour of the standard hard Cr plating, the new coatings are characterized by improvements that support their application in new advanced piston rings.
