COaching Support Tool to identify WORking process improvements THrough introduction of intelligent manufacturing system solutions

Obiettivo

To ensure competitiveness & growth enlarging and opening worldwide markets or even survival in a global manufacturing marketplace, companies have to continuously improve business processes by efficient introduction of new organisational structures and work practices together supported by existing tech solutions. Although the introduction of such solutions is a "strategic decision", methods to support the process from requirements analysis & decision making to implementation of advanced ICTs are missing. Dealing with SMEs the situation turns to be more critical. To solve this the consortium will create an innovative, internationally recognised, integrated, application-oriented and practicable methodology including set tools, combining coaching oriented support scheme and component based business re-engineering approach.

Objectives:
The objective of the project is to create an innovative, internationally recognised, integrated, application-oriented and practicable COST-WORTH methodology including set of methods and tools, which combines a coaching oriented support scheme and component based business re-engineering approach to support manufacturing SMEs in different regions and sectors for all up-coming improvement aspects in a company and in all phases of an improvement process, and specifically in introduction of different IMSS in a stepwise and an unique way. In addition to this, the consortium will initialise a network of consultancy to support SMEs in their improvement processes Europe wide and world-wide,

Work description:
WP100 Requirements analysis & Concept Definition. Analysis of requirements on the COST-WORTH toolbox, elaboration of the required COST-WORTH toolbox concept as well as the identification of the required set of Methods & Tools to be developed, supporting the entire improvement life-cycle in reference to a coaching oriented and component based business process re-engineering approach;
WP200 Definition and specification of Methods and Tools Definition & Specification (D&S) of Methods and Tools (M&T) to support all activities along the COST-WORTH life cycle phases of the introduction of IMSS (phases: Analysis & Conception, Specification & Selection, Implementation / RTD topics: System, Organisation, Technology, Planning and Control of Introduction and Measurement);
WP300 Design & Development of Methods and Tools. A detailed design of the identified methods and tools will be realised followed by their development. This development might be limited to an enhancement of already at RTD partner's site available method and tools or might require new developments;
WP400 Testing of Methodology For eight business cases the developed COST-WORTH methods and tools will be applied. This is a round-trip engineering process: the results achieved during this workpackage will be used as feedback input to the still running WP200 & 300;
WP500 Measurement Verification of the COST-WORTH toolbox by measuring the business benefits at the SME sites as well as the measurement of the achievement of the stated RTD objectives. Optimisation of COST-WORTH Methodology in reference to the assessed business benefit results;
WP600 Exploitation & Dissemination of ResultsWP700 Project Management. This Wp will include EU coordination and management and global management including Japan, Switzerland and Australia participation.

Milestones:
M1(PS+6M):Finalised detailed identification of user requirements and elaboration of methodology concept, including identification of available methods and tools;
M2(PS+15M):Finalised specification of methods & tools, early prototypes developed;
M3(PS+22M):Toolbox concept refined, Methods and tools designed, specified, developed and integrated;
M4(PS+26M):Results of testing & verifications of the methodology by the end-users;
M5(PS+30M):Final measurement of business benefits.
