Cel Recent studies of European children admitted to the hospital have shown that many receive drugs without labelling for paediatric use because appropriate studies aimed at meeting the requirements of regulatory agencies are not carried out, nor supported by manufacturers. The development of a European register of trials on drug therapy in children would help to open up the process and avoid these problems. A register of trials in children would be a potentially useful resource for planning new studies, promoting communication and collaboration between researchers, facilitating patient access and recruitment to trials, and preventing trial duplication and inappropriate funding.
