INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF INTEGRATED HEAT PUMP STATIONS IN DENMARK AND WEST BERLIN

Cel

The aim of this project is the establishment of an organisation to erect and operate 16 economically viable, de-centralised, heat supply systems using bivalent heatpumps and/or alternative energy sources. The size of the heating supply systems will be in the range of 300 KW to 3 MW. During this project it is proposed to install 10 small and 1 large heatpump stations in Berlin, and 3 small and 2 large station in Denmark.

This is not a single, well-defined project, but the proposed establishment of an organisation to supply customers with a heating requirement of between 300 KWH and 3 MWH by utilising alternative heat sources, notably heat pumps. The organisation would sell the energy to the customer but not the heating plant thereby removing the financial risk from the customer and promoting a wider acceptance of this type of heat supply. The suppliers risks will, in turn, be reduced because, by having a number of similar heat supply plants, it is possible to provide continuous maintenance and ensure a readily available supply of spare parts in an economically viable way.
Two heatpump systems will be predominantly used. Smaller installations, with a demand of 700 KW or less, will be based on small diesel heatpumps developed by VOLKSWAGEN AG. Each of these pumps can supply up to 37 KW of heat. Larger installations, up to 3 MW will use systems based on large diesel/gas heatpumps developed by INNOSYSAPS, Denmark.
Where possible these systems will use ground water as the heat source, or if this is not possible, outside air. Both systems will have a boiler to supply the peak demand and as a back-up system.
