Enhancing translations interculturally

The ideological implications of intercultural translation are being highlighted through an international collaboration.

Intercultural translations is a field that involves ideological, cultural and linguistic aspects. In order to enhance didactic, linguistic and methodological competence in this field, the EU-funded 'Ideological implications of intercultural translation' (IDEO-TRANS) project is seeking ways to advance related research. Emphasis is placed on the publication of scientific papers and studies, as well as on the participation in thematic congresses and colloquia. The work also involves a bilateral cooperation among international universities and institutes from Mexico and Poland involving academic visits. Designed as a complex multi-task plan, characterised by diversity, complementariness, progressiveness, and transferability of skills and competence, the project has many objectives in the works. Several theoretical and practical scientific issues within the framework of academic research in translation and communication are being developed. Knowledge and skills transfer through the cooperation of academic institutions and social organisations is also taking place. The work will be beneficial to academics and researchers in Latin America and Europe as well.
