International conference ‘Vitamin D & Health in Europe’

The ODIN project is coordinating the Vitamin D & Health in Europe conference in Cork, Ireland between 5-6 September 2017.

5 September 2017 - 6 September 2017
Cork, Ireland
Vitamin D deficiency has significant implications for human health and impacts on healthy growth and development, and successful aging. But gaps in our knowledge pose a barrier to the implementation of a safe and effective public health strategy aimed at preventing vitamin D deficiency. The EU-funded ODIN project aims to provide the evidence needed to prevent vitamin D deficiency in Europe and improve nutrition and public health through the consumption of vitamin D-rich food.

To further this aim the project is holding its international conference which will, among other subjects cover: dietary requirements for vitamin D; Children and adolescents, and Pregnancy and infancy; Consideration of the sun and ethnic minorities; and The case for food fortification including the Finnish exemplar.
