Assisting Chinese participation in Converging systems

Cel

The PARTAKE project aims to instigate long-term research collaboration between leading European and Chinese organisations in the area of Converging systems. The key result of such participation would be the engagement of leading Chinese organisations in standardisation and regulation initiatives that are of strategic importance to the private sector in Europe.

The PARTAKE Project plans to achieve its aim by delivering a workshop in Beijing that will begin by presenting the European vision of Converging systems research: Delivering attractive new services exploiting the cooperation of broadcast and telecommunications networks that would be impossible to provide using either network alone. The workshop will then present the results of FP5 projects in Converging systems and report on the progress of the FP6 Integrated Project INSTINCT in Converging systems focussing on their significance for China.

Following on from this, Chinese participants will give presentations on the work their organisations would like to undertake in Converging systems. Once the context has been established in this way presentations will be made on the management of European Commission funded projects in Converging systems. Workshop participants representing European organisations active in European Commission funded projects in Converging systems will be available in Beijing for a few days after the workshop to discuss with workshop participants representing Chinese organisations the possibilities for proposals for Commission funded projects involving their organisation and Chinese participation.

The Workshop is carefully timed to take place a few months before the proposal submission deadline for the EU-FP6 IST 4th call to give a focus to discussions on preparing project proposals involving Chinese and European participants.
