Risultati finali
The report comprises the activities undertaken in Task 3.2 to identify the functional requirements, in terms of needs, technical constraints, targeted local users and communities, environmental impact, cost limits, functionalities, applicable standards, expected performance, operation and maintenance, etc., to be applied to the energy innovations deployed in the different demonstrations sites, and related to the different energy domains considered namely: Solar photovoltaics, smart microgrids, electric mobility, second life EV batteries biomass to biogas, waste to energy and climate proofing.In the document it will be shown the process that leads each Living Lab partner together with the project partners to a relatively precise and well described needs and requirements specification (specially focused on the potential energy-related infrastructure and equipment and systema providers and developers), which is key to identifying the most technically appropriate and economically viable offers. In the report it will also be included a review of the basis for system specifications as well as different standardisation bases applied in different countries and continents, their applicability and differences.
Collection of good practices from the SESA capacity building activities (si apre in una nuova finestra)The best cases and good practices learned via or directly created by the project in its capacity building activities will be summarised in a short document that will serve as inspiration for demonstration countries/cities and other organization or projects working with the knowledge transfer, stakeholders’ engagement. The document, which arises from Task 2.5, serves also to showcase the achievement of WP2 and amplify the basic values of the project.
Catalogue of energy solutions (si apre in una nuova finestra)The catalogue of energy solutions results from the work of collection and categorization carried out in Task 3.1 and it will inform the implementation of the living labs, as well as showcase the range of potential solutions to outside audiences. The catalogue will be a user-friendly and visually engaging web-based product (downloadable for off-line use), organised as a searchable database within the SESA toolbox. It will be composed of a series of factsheets summarising a set of key sustainable energy solutions that are relevant to the context of the living labs. The factsheets will address different dimensions of each solution including technological considerations, appropriate business models, potential socio-economic impacts. The catalogue will be co-created with inputs from stakeholders, in particular technology providers and implementing partners, both within and outside the consortium.
The SESA capacity building plan (si apre in una nuova finestra)The aim of the plan is to provide an overview of the capacity building programme. It will be a single document resulting from the capacity and skills needs assessment on energy use in partner cities with all relevant stakeholders presenting a sound and tailored learning plan. The capacity plan will outline the learning topics/themes, the sequence, location and timing of training, capacity and skills building activities; the implementation of which will result capacity building, city-to-city cooperation and professional development
Five (5) demonstration implementation plans (si apre in una nuova finestra)For all partner cities or counties, demonstration implementation plans (at least 5) will be developed (Task 4.1). By bringing together the knowledge gained in WP1, WP3 and linking to the activities planned in WP2, the plans will outline concrete steps for the demonstration phase helping to set the base for a successful implementation. The plans will include 1 modular living lab demonstration plan in Kenya, and 4 validation demonstration plans in Morocco, Ghana, Malawi and South Africa.
Cooperation strategy with sister projects (si apre in una nuova finestra)The strategy will ensure the cooperation with projects funded under under the LC-GD-2-3-2020 call and the projects funded under the LC-SC3-JA-5-2020 call (“Long Term EU-Africa Partnership for Research and Innovation actions in the area of renewable energy”) as for example the LEAP-RE project to enhance the respective impact and visibility as well as to raise the value for participants to the projects at local level.Moreover, the project will take any available opportunity to build synergies with ongoing H2020 projects as well as with projects funded under the European Green Deal Call by sharing activities and contribute to the networking experience.
SESA Policy brief (si apre in una nuova finestra)This final document will summarize the main policy outcomes of the project in a format that can facilitate further dissemination of the brief, targeting local governments and providing, among the others, an insights on how scaling up vertical integration of climate action. The brief will also include the main results from the policy dialogues carried out in Task 6.4.
Barriers analysis (si apre in una nuova finestra)For technologies in the countries where demonstration and validation sites are located, key stakeholders will be identified for each technology including policy makers, technology providers, financiers, users, experts and others in the technology value chain. The stakeholders' consultations / surveys will be carried out to identify barriers to the above technologies and analysed. The barrier analysis document will summarize the main barriers at the policy level that hinder the uptake of each of the demonstration technologies identified. A minimum of 9 analyses will be developed as input to Policy Roadmaps for both national and local level.
Capacity building tools and updates (si apre in una nuova finestra)Based on the Task 2.1 assessment, and inputs from the WP1 Toolbox, SESA will tailor to local needs and audience, a modular package of capacity building tools and methodologies (UNH). This package will be regularly updated until the end of the project such that its value is maintained beyond the project’s lifetime and it will be made easily accessible on the SESA website and also featured at local InfoSpots (BIF).
Regional training activity report (si apre in una nuova finestra)The report will summarize the activities undertaken in Task 2.4 with a focus on the synergies created among the project partners and local-level actors in the region in relation to the (min) 4 regional trainings that will be organized (one each in North-, South-, East and West-Africa) together with the involvement of relevant partners. SESA aims at directly training at least 500 experts, officials and practitioners in the short term.
Scale-up concepts and pre-feasibility studies (si apre in una nuova finestra)A minimum of 10 scale-up concepts will be drafted with the aim to sustain the innovations tested in the demonstration actions and to develop them into a project proposal for a transformational, innovative and integrated sustainable energy projects. Potential national and international financial partners are mapped and concepts submitted to at least 4 potential financiers.At least 4 of these concepts will be further developed in pre-feasibility studies that follow the requirements of targeted financial institutions.
Peer-to-peer exchange (at least 10) on Sustainable Energy innovation (si apre in una nuova finestra)The document aims at presenting in a comprehensive manner the activities carried out in the peer-to-peer exchanges foreseen in Task 2.3. This will include the targets set by each partner city, the implementation, the final results and lessons learned from the experience that can favor the replicability of such exchange.
eLearning report (si apre in una nuova finestra)The eLearning report to be developed will summarize the content of the self-paced eLearning materials and dissemination activities, The report will also include a summary of webinars carried out by experts as part of eLearning materials.
Report on replication roadmaps for (at least 4) sites (si apre in una nuova finestra)The report on replication roadmaps will contain the highlights and main outcomes from the three regional workshops through which business models are adapted using co-creation approach with demonstration, validation and replication partners. This easy to navigate document will also reveal the methodology used in the workshops to serve as inspiration and guidance for further exploitation and replication.
Five (5) implementation summary reports for the demonstration actions (si apre in una nuova finestra)This document is a collection of reports, one per each demonstration sites, that presents the advancements of each actions from the planning to the implementation. The reports will include also obstacles encountered in the implementation phase and solutions applied to overcome them.
Report on business models (at least six) (si apre in una nuova finestra)Building on the business model innovation theory and practice including the Business model innovation tool developed under the H2020 project E-LAND, this regular report (M12, updated M24,M36, M48) will summarize the activities and development of Task 3.3 in demonstration and validation sites with the key focus on the demonstration phase (the rural and urban hub in Kenya) with 6 business models, and briefly identify any linkages with select validation and replication sites. The report will be enriched by the outcomes of the co-creation workshops that sees the participation of teams of research and industry partners seeking also the contribution of other relevant actors such as industry, users, local partners and finance partners.
Five (5) demonstration project updates (si apre in una nuova finestra)Updated reports (at least 5) on the overview, inception, progress, final implementation and evaluation of the demonstration and validation projects in line with D4.1 and Tasks 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4 will be prepared. These reports will form the basis for the selection of activities for replication projects in selected cities or counties.
Policy roadmaps and policy briefs to remove barriers for specific technologies (si apre in una nuova finestra)A minimum number of 9 policy roadmaps will be developed providing policy guidance to the partner countries and beyond on how policies can be refined to create an enabling framework at national and local level supporting the scale-up activities. The roadmaps will be complemented by a set of at least 9 policy briefs on specific measures related to specific regulations.
The scalable and harmonised toolbox will be the key living repository of the project collecting the main outcomes and results produced by the SESA project across the different WPs. The toolbox launch is intended to build a structure of regular iterative updates from various WPs through the course of the project.
