Risultati finali
A list of phenotyping tools suitable for quantifying rhizosphere traits, such as root exudate and rhizosphere microbiome traits, will be compiled and added to the phenotyping toolbox. For complicated traits this will involve the identification and validation of proxies suitable for large scale phenotyping (T2.2).
Define target ideotypes (si apre in una nuova finestra)A definition of a root/rhizosphere ideotypes for each crop species and agroclimatic zone to mitigate water and nutrient stress will be produced, taking into account the priority list of ideotype traits and employing modelling approaches (T1.2).
Priority list of root/rhizosphere ideotype traits (si apre in una nuova finestra)With input from stakeholders and analysis of existing data and literature, a priority list of ideotype traits to mitigate water and nutrient stress will be compiled for each crop species and agroclimatic zone. (T1.1).
Policy Brief 2 (si apre in una nuova finestra)A second policy brief will be produced summarised the most policy relevant output of Root2Res. This will be delivered to the EC and distributed to all partners for local policy engagement (T7.3).
Phenotyping toolbox-architectural traits (si apre in una nuova finestra)A list of phenotyping tools suitable for quantifying root architectural traits applicable for field trials and CE experiments will be compiled and associated practice abstracts will be produced to generate a toolbox of phenotyping tools (T2.1).
Guidelines for the Stakeholders engagement and interaction (si apre in una nuova finestra)A document outlining the strategy and procedure for stakeholder engagement will be distributed to all partners and placed on the Root2Res website (T7.1).
Quality Management Plan (si apre in una nuova finestra)The project’s quality management (quality assurance and quality control) principles, indicators and methods will be detailed in the quality management plan (T8.3).
Policy Brief 1 (si apre in una nuova finestra)A policy brief will be produced summarised the most policy relevant output of Root2Res. This will be delivered to the EC and distributed to all partners for local policy engagement (T7.3).
Dissemination and Exploitation Plans (including the communication handbook) (si apre in una nuova finestra)A document outlining the dissemination and exploitation strategies will be distributed to all partners and placed on the Root2Res website (T7.3).
An online platform for the sharing of project information will be developed and made available through the Root2Res website (T8.1).
Workshops (si apre in una nuova finestra)Workshops will be run to train Root2Res researchers and stakeholders (final users) in the use of the developed phenotyping toolboxes (T2.1).
Genotypic data on populations of all Root2Res crop species will be assembled for all germplasms identified in T3.1 and will include pre-existing data and newly generated genotyping data for some species. (T3.2)
OpenSimRoot will be updated with a novel rhizosphere model, plasticity responses and parameterization for new crops (T6.2). This will be released as part of the Root2Res modelling toolbox.
A test mesocosm systems allowing assessment of the plastic response of root traits to varying water availability will be designed and tested (T5.1).
