Advanced MEAs ensuring high efficiency HDV

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - MEAsureD (Advanced MEAs ensuring high efficiency HDV)

Periodo di rendicontazione: 2023-06-01 al 2024-11-30

The strategic objective of MEAsureD is to combine experimental approaches and simulations/modelling to improve the understanding and prediction, and finally achieve a significant improvement of HT-MEA performance and lifetime for HDV. MEA components development and optimisation will lead to the improvement of the overall system performance of the FC. It is therefore evident that MEAsureD will specifically focus on the utilization of the HT-PEM as the best scientific direction for the HDV industry compared to the LT-PEM technology by developing the ion-pair concept beyond current State-of-the-Art (SoA) and accomplishing the key performance indicators (KPIs) of the specific call. The MEAsureD objective is to link HT-PEM with HDV applications through a consortium composed of experts in fuel cell technology, led by the MEA manufacturer Advent. Based on Advent’s current technological know-how in MEA development, the main scope is to tune up all necessary technical aspects and deliver an advanced MEA with a high-end potential, based on cost and environmental analysis specifically for the HDV sector. To achieve this strategic objective, parallel actions in experimental and theoretical research will target to improve MEAs durability and performance. The overall objective is to demonstrate a MEA that has high performance, operates in higher temperatures ( >160oC), and is cost-effective.
In the initial 18 months of the project, we've laid down foundational protocol procedures, including project management and quality plans. Additionally, we've set up monthly meetings for each work package to ensure smooth progress. The Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation work package has made significant headway, establishing key components such as the Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation Plan, a dedicated website, social media accounts, newsletters, booklets, and one-page leaflets. Here's a breakdown of the deliverables that have been successfully submitted thus far in the project.
