Formal methods Europe: information resources

Cel

To allay the apprehensions of organisations considering using formal methods, possibly for the first time, by providing them with information based on experience to date which will help in their decisions processes and strategy formation. This will be done by setting up information resources about formal methods and make them available via the World Wide Web, specifically information on tools, existing applications, bibliographies, frequently asked questions, and to publish a newsletter and other information via leaflets and conference presentations.

ACTIONS

WWW sites in at least 8 Community countries providing links to pages of information about formal methods; a six-monthly newsletter; other promotional material.

- Subject matter: information on formal methods, their applications, support tools, experience of use, etc.
- Target Audience: European software developers who might use formal methods but need more advice and information about their effectiveness, experience of use, advantages etc.
- Dissemination mechanisms: Databases of tools, applications, FAQs, and Bibliographies freely available via the WWW; a newsletter and other promotional activities.

EXPECTED IMPACT

The project hopes to reach several hundred industrial organisations with the newsletter and other information, to gather around 50 entries in the tools and applications databases and some hundreds of items in the bibliography, and to generate a committed new interest in formal methods in an initial number of organisations.
