Final Report Summary - CANOMICS (Multicentre discovery of breast cancer biomarkers)
The objectives of CANOMICS were to establish new proteomic biomarker discovery technologies, and in particular their application to breast cancer, in the Egyptian partners. Theoretical and training through research activities relating to sample collection and mass spectrometry approaches (SELDI TOF; MALDI TOF/TOF and iTRAQ2-2DL-MS/MS) were planned.
Unfortunately, whilst the theoretical training was completed, the training through research activities were not possible due to the political disturbances in Egypt during the project. The expertise gained has, however, enabled progress in establishing specialist research facilities and establishing further international cooperation by the Egyptian partners.
