Conference 1 (EURAM 2019)

Conferences 1 and 2 will be embedded in the EURAM conferences 2020 and 2021 (www.euram-online.org). EURAM has a standing ‘expatriation’ track, which is core to our research project. ESRs will present their research findings and discuss them with experts in the field.

GLOMO Seasonal (winter) school 3

Three Seasonal Schools prepare ESRs for all six career roles. These 5-6 days long Seasonal Schools are co-located at (and co-sponsored by) local graduate schools of the supervisors’ home institutions. All are partially open so that thematic sessions and workshops can be attended by e.g. external graduates, industry and press (sometimes against a modest participation fee). In addition to the two training components of all NWT events (see above), the three GLOMO Seasonal Schools include: • keynote lectures with respect to main research questions and cross-cutting themes, • theme-driven theory sessions including around 4-5 presentations, • training in transferable skills, • a Visiting Researchers Programme with external, internationally renowned researchers, • ESR Colloquia where all ESRs present and discuss the state and results of their project, and • World Café Meetings with core participants, ESRs and visiting researchers for open discussions.

Workshop 1 (IRWS 2018)

The three workshops support fellows in becoming a ‘researcher’ by learning qualitative and quantitative research methods as needed for their own and other research projects (e.g. questionnaire design, sampling, structural equation modelling, network analysis, case study research, qualitative comparative analysis, multilevel modelling; see Table 1.2.c). Workshops 1 and 2 consist of participation in the ‘International Research Workshop’ (IRWS, www.phd-network.eu/) for beginners and the ‘Advanced IRWS’. Both workshops offer ESRs the opportunity to expand their international network with PhDs outside the GLOMO ETN and to learn from and with each other.

"Audit ""International Employer"" Version 1.1"

GLOMO will develop an Audit instrument “International Employer” for public and private non-academic organisations, which will help organisations to offer high quality employment conditions for international employees. Based on the first application at AIRFR the strengths and weaknesses of the audit instrument are identified. The audit is revised accordingly.

Conference 2 (EURAM 2020)

Conferences 1 and 2 will be embedded in the EURAM conferences 2020 and 2021 (www.euram-online.org). EURAM has a standing ‘expatriation’ track, which is core to our research project. ESRs will be trained by presenting their own research results and discussing them with experts in the field, getting state-of-the-art input on global mobility research through other researchers’ presentations and by building international networks. In group meetings, others’ and ESRs’ own conference presentations will be discussed and critically reflected regarding content and research methodology.

"Workshop ""International Employer"""

The „International Employer“ workshop serves to inform members of industry, politics, general public, and entrepreneurs about the content and functioning of the audit “International Employer” and determine adaptations for SMEs and public organisations. Thus, it also aims to acquire first customers for the audit.

6 Public GLOMO national workshops

1 GLOMO National Workshop per beneficiary organisation. GLOMO National Workshops are organised by each of the beneficiaries and the related ESRs allowing integration of and interaction with relevant stakeholders/policy makers and the wider public in the framework of the respective ESR projects.

GLOMO International Conference 3

The final international and open conference marks the end of the network’s research stage. All researchers involved present their research findings to a wider audience of scientists, politicians, enterprises, internationally mobile employees and interested public. It includes the following key elements: Keynotes from GLOMO members on overall research findings and implications for policy and practice, responses from visiting researchers and politicians on the research findings, sessions on detailed findings of each WP including presentations of the ESRs, a panel discussion on research findings and their impacts.

GLOMO will develop an Audit instrument “International Employer” for public and private non-academic organisations, which will help organisations to offer high quality employment conditions for international employees. A first draft of the audit is finalised and applied to AIRFR.
