Feasibility Study for Fleximodo – Smart IoT Sensors with Software for Parking Management

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - Fleximodo (Feasibility Study for Fleximodo – Smart IoT Sensors with Software for Parking Management)

Okres sprawozdawczy: 2019-06-01 do 2019-11-30

GOSPACE is a Slovak company founded in 2013, pioneering the Research and Development (R&D) of hardware and software focused on the Internet of Things (IoT). When it comes to these cutting-edge and energy-efficient networks, GOSPACE became number one in central Europe in fine-tuning both networks (providers) and communication chipsets of its manufactures. As a result, the team got very well familiar with all IoT networks (Sigfox, LoRa, NB-IoT, and LTE-M). Previously as a part of the Slovak Organisation for Space Activities (SOSA), the company had two goals: to ensure Slovakia’s accession to the European Space Agency (ESA) and to build the first Slovak satellite. After achieving both, to leverage the gained expertise, the company decided to reorient itself from the niche market of space to the mass market of parking, reflecting trends of smart cities and IoT. The unique experience with several space projects and space hardware enabled the company to conduct its business based on its strengths: miniaturizations, telecommunication, space-qualified electronics, and aerospace technologies. As a result, GOSPACE builds innovative sensors, autonomous devices, intelligent applications, microelectronic, and telecommunication systems to solve everyday problems of its clients. The company’s vision with its solution Fleximodo is stress-free parking. As such, GOSPACE is on a mission to transform parking from an analog to digital to protect designated parking slots, enable sharing, maximize capacity, and dramatically improve the user experience.

The feasibility assessment revolved around four primary objectives: (1) identification of customer needs, affordability of the solution, and legalities of the solution installation in the most promising market segments, (2) testing of Fleximodo in a real operating environment with end-users of each identified target group and to collect feedback for further value proposition improvement, (3) developing a partnership strategy with existing and potential solution integrators. The strategy will further include the acquisition of certification from potential solution integrators (Deutsche Telecom) and main IoT networks organizations (Lora Alliance, SigFox) needed for successful solution commercialization and dissemination, (4) developing an elaborate business plan that could be used as a roadmap for the commercialization of Fleximodo.
The feasibility assessment revolved around four main areas of action: (1) User needs analysis which included interviews with municipalities about their needs, segmentation of users and target customers and user and stakeholder analysis, (2) pilot test which included five pilot tests executed with municipalities, feedback gathered from municipalities, (3) Partner strategy which resulted in securing of a strategic partnership and certification with Vodafone CZ, and (4) A comprehensive business plan development for future commercialization including global market trends and overview analysis, target market selection and analysis, market research to identify relevant stakeholders (partners and competitors) in target markets, business model and financial projections
The company’s vision with its solution Fleximodo is stress-free parking. As such, GOSPACE is on a mission to transform parking from an analog to digital to protect designated parking slots, enable sharing, maximize capacity, and dramatically improve the user experience. GOSPACE developed Fleximodo, highly precise and durable smart IoT sensor with software for parking management. Solution’s superiority relies on its compliance with technological, manufacturing and new, cutting edge LPWAN connectivity standards expected from efficient communication used for space satellites.
