Development of the plus energy neighbourhood design by applying the methods of Integrated Energy Design (IED) to develop an integrated design process at the neighbourhood scale. Create scenarios for current and future climates, as well as different scenarios for energy and power costs, operation and maintenance costs, future codes and regulations, user behaviour, etc. Performance prediction of the plus energy design using dynamic computer simulations: i. Indoor climate ii. Energy, iii. Power, iv. CO2 emissions. In this deliverable, we will analyse different scenarios with combinations of state-of-the-art materials, components, technologies and smart control systems with regards to the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Construction of real-life demonstration project as co-creation hub for testing of novel systems, technologies, and processes to achieve sustainable plus energy houses at the neighbourhood scale.The following materials, components, and systems will be of particular focus: •Design and selection of materials and constructive solutions in order to achieve energy demand reduction for the buildings of the neighbourhood (insulating material in façade and roof, airtight windows and glasses), both in use phase and analysing the global life cycle.•Implementation of passive solutions to ensure the maximum solar gains in winter and to guarantee solar protection in summer by shading controls, for an optimal thermal comfort of the users.•Smart lighting systems by using lighting and presence controls, in order to optimize the use of artificial lighting and maximize the visual comfort.•Design and control of aerothermal heat pumps with heat recovery systems for heating and cooling ensuring the minimum energy consumption and the maximum indoor environmental comfort, in combination with controlled mechanical ventilation systems to achieve maximum air quality in the building.•Evaluation and design of building/neighbourhood systems for energy generation. Design and integration of PV systems, exceeding the building energy needs, in such a way that these solutions cover the buildings’ consumption and contribute with extra energy to be used in other applications. •Planning, design, and implementation of interconnection infrastructure between the buildings of the neighbourhood in order to share the generated energy between the different buildings.•Design and implementation of management systems at building and neighbourhood scale, to ensure the neighbourhood energy balance, minimizing the energy demand, and maximizing the use of on-site renewable energy. •Design and implementation of monitoring systems with user interface systems for all the elements related to the generation and consumption of electricity at dwelling, building, and neighbourhood level, in order to fortes the awareness of the neighbourhood.•Study and design of the electric vehicle (EV) integration and its impact in the neighbourhood at the energy and environmental level. Identification of the requirements and needs for the EV implementation.

Construction of real-life demonstration project as co-creation hub for testing of novel systems, technologies, and processes to achieve sustainable plus energy houses at the neighbourhood scale.The following materials, components, and systems will be of particular focus: •Assessment of the current energy and comfort performance of the demo case before the refurbishment (following the methodology developed in T3.1)•Evaluation of the energy and resource need before refurbishment and development of need reduction strategies•Design and control of passive envelope refurbishment solutions including assessment of necessary amount of insulation, performance enhancement of openings, potential shading systems and their controls for optimal energy efficiency and thermal comfort of the users. •Evaluation and design of building/neighbourhood systems for energy generation for improvement on baseline solution. Solutions to be considered: waste heat usage from neighbouring industrial park, air or ground source heat pump system, local micro power plant. (in sync with T3.5)•Design and integration of PV or BIPV and solar thermal systems.•Evaluation of possible implementation of interconnection infrastructure between the buildings of the neighbourhood in order to share the generated energy between the different buildings (in sync with T3.5)•Evaluation of possible heating and ventilation systems in combination with storage systems to provide peak shaving and maximum utilization of renewables, while ensuring a good indoor climate. (in sync with T3.4) •Evaluation of possible electrical systems (lighting and appliances) to allow for optimal energy and power performance and high comfort for users. (in sync with T3.4)•Evaluation of possible management systems at building and neighbourhood scale, to ensure the neighbourhood energy balance, minimizing the energy demand, and maximizing the use of on-site renewable energy. •Design and implementation of monitoring systems with user interface systems for all the elements related to the generation and consumption of electricity at dwelling, building, and neighbourhood level, in order to fortes the awareness of the neighbourhood. (in sync with T3.1)•Study of the electric vehicle (EV) integration and its impact in the neighbourhood at the energy and environmental level. Identification of the requirements and needs for the EV implementation.•Participatory Co-design. Inclusion of building users and stakeholders of the refurbishment process in the evaluation and design of different refurbishment solutions in parallel with the application of Integrated Energy Design. Based on the identified stakeholder value chain the main stakeholders are involved in the design development and decision making process through semi-structured interviews, eco-design workshops and focus group events.

Construction of real-life demonstration project as co-creation hub for testing of novel systems, technologies, and processes to achieve sustainable plus energy houses at the neighbourhood scale.The following materials, components, and systems will be of particular focus: •Design the amount, type, and placement of thermal mass components for building integrated storage in combination with ventilation system design and control. •Design and control of shading systems for peak shaving of heating and cooling loads and maximizing visual comfort. •Design and control of heating and ventilation systems in combination with storage systems to provide peak shaving and maximum utilization of renewables, while ensuring a good indoor climate. •Evaluate the design and control of a ground source heat pump system to maximize use of solar electricity from BIPV system and to minimize life cycle costs versus connecting to the district heating network.•Design of BIPV system to reach the plus energy performance and high architectural quality. •Consider the integration of a building energy management system (OBOS Smart Living) and a user interface to optimize the building performance at the neighbourhood scale, taking into account social sustainability issues.•Implement a system for smart charging of electric vehicles for load shifting, power shaving, and increased self-consumption of solar electricity.

Construction of real-life demonstration project as co-creation hub for testing of novel systems, technologies, and processes to achieve sustainable plus energy houses at the neighbourhood scale.The following materials, components, and systems will be of particular focus: •Design the amount, type, and placement of thermal mass components for building integrated storage in combination with ventilation system design and control. •Design and control of shading systems for peak shaving of heating and cooling loads and maximizing visual comfort. •Design and control of active ventilation systems.•Design and control of local buffering strategies using for example domestic hot water.•Design and control of heating and cooling systems in combination with storage systems to provide peak shaving and maximum utilization of renewables, while ensuring good indoor climate. •Design and control of a ground source heat pump system to maximize use of solar electricity from a BIPV system and to minimize life cycle costs. •Design of the BIPV system to reach the plus energy performance and high architectural quality. •Design and control of electrical systems (lighting and appliances) to allow for optimal energy and power performance and high comfort for users. •Design a building energy management system and a user interface system to optimize the building performance at the neighbourhood scale. Develop and test a Vehicle to Home V2H system (TRL 5-7) employing electric car batteries.
