This Policy Brief will summarise key insights from the entire work programme regarding the potential of national and EU actors to support and enable policy making to accommodate structural change at the regional level.

This report will include the programme concept for the transition academy It will contain a detailed needs assessment mapping knowledge finance and skill gaps at the regional level

Synthesis report including on general findings and recom-mendations (region-specific as well as overarching EU-Level) (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

This deliverable will synthesise the main overarching findings across all four regional case studies. It will discuss generalizability of the findings and develop recommendations for and policy options at the EU and international level to support decarbonization and corresponding structural adjustments in the regions

Journal Article Manuscript on Assessing the socio-economic impacts and public policy costs of the transition in carbon-intensive regions (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

The deliverable will analyse pledged public policy costs of coal transitions with modelling results from previous analysis. The results will be presented in the form of an article manuscript ready for submission to a scientific journal.

Coping strategy guidance documents (8-10) (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

A series of 8-10 guidance documents, one for each of the selected specific strategies to be used as references by regional and local actors (including an assessment of the conditions that enabled the coping strategy, and information on how to replicate the strategy). This will include guidance on community-led and other stakeholder engagement strategies.

Research framework for researching transitions of carbon-intensive regions: Insights from different disciplines, scales and epistemological approaches (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

This Framework will contain four chaptgers Chapter 1 will lay the foundation for translating insights for different disciplines on the feasibility and potential for energy transitions of carbonintensive regions Chapter 2 will provide a conceptual approach to integrate the analytical lenses in the regional level Chapter 3 will provide a toolset to analyse the success of coping strategies in terms of holistic justice implications Finally Chapter 4 will present synthetic crosstask theoretical insights

Report on Policy mix evaluation tool including indicators to identify relationships between regional policy mixes and specific coping strategies or coping strategy mixes (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

Task 4.2 will develop a (self-)assessment tool for policy makers to assess policy mixes in response to structural change. This deliverable will contain a detailed description of that tool and will be elaborated in the form of a report targeted at regional policy makers / administrators.

Policy Briefs on various aspects of regional transformations (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

A total of 9 Policy Briefs will be produced (5-10 pages) including on the following aspects: For each region a summary of findings and region-specific recommendations (4 policy briefs)(responsible WI, E3M, WiseEuropa, EKUK); a synthesis of generalizable findings across regional case studies and recommendations for national and EU level policy makers (responsible: WI); interactions between decarbonisation and other megatrends in European regions (responsible: WiseEuropa), decarbonization and populism (responsible: UiB), downscaling or upskilling: socio-demographic developments and governance in times of transition (responsible: wiiw), and developing gender responsive policies in carbon intensive regions accompanying the transition (responsible: EKUK).

Report on current socio-economic, energy system, socio-political and socio-demographic challenges including a set of slide decks displaying results for each of the 10-20 most vulnerable regions (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

The deliverable will synthesise the quantitative analysis of the current energy and electricity system structure in carbonintensive regions It will contain consistent socioeconomic and energy system datasets for NUTS2 regions at the appropriate level of sectoral granularity for recent years up to 20182019 including suitable approximations only in cases required
