STABILITY OF SMALL-SIZE PULVERIZED COAL BURNERS FOR COLD WALL COMBUSTION CHAMBERS.

Cel

THE AIM OF THE PROJECT IS TO PROMOTE THE USE OF COAL IN SMALL-SCALE PLANT, WHICH CURRENTLY USE RELATIVELY EXPENSIVE FUELS SUCH AS DOMESTIC FUEL OIL OR LPG.
THE PROJECT SHOULD LEAD TO IMPROVEMENTS TO THE EXISTING TYPE OF STAGED-COMBUSTION BURNER .

THE OPTIMIZATION PARAMETERS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

- RAPID STABILIZATION OF FLAME WITHOUT BACK-UP FUEL;
- SATISFACTORY COMBUSTION EFFICIENCY (97% OR MORE);
- FLEXIBILITY OF OPERATION RANGE (1 TO 3 IF POSSIBLE) WITH MINIMUM ADJUSTEMENT;
- SIMPLICITY AND SMOOTH MECHANICAL OPERATION.

THE PROJECT WILL RESULT IN A THOROUGH UNDERSTANDING OF THE AUTO-STABILIZATION MECHANISMS IN BURNERS WITH A VIEW TO SIMPLE MODELLING OF THE INFLAMMATION AND STABILITY PHENOMENA, AND DEVISING A RATIONAL BURNER DESIGN PROCEDURE.
THE FINDINGS CAN BE APPLIED IN SMALL-SCALE ATOMIZED-COAL BURNERS (3 TO 20 MW).
