The European Commission, DG XVII, has published a targeted call for proposals for demonstration projects on super efficient advanced gas-turbine systems for industrial applications, within the framework of the Community programme for the promotion of European energy technology (THERMIE). The objective of the demonstration activities covered by this targeted call for proposals is to encourage the development of innovative technologies to improve the efficiency of small to medium gas-turbine sizes and related systems fuelled with natural gas for industrial stationary applications. The call applies to new installations as well as upgraded or retrofitted installations. The planned demonstration projects will be able to demonstrate the technical feasibility and economic advantages compared to the performance of today's gas-turbine systems. The projects should also demonstrate the continual achievement of a substantial increase in efficiency and reliability, with a high availability accompanied by low emission levels. The demonstration projects on an industrial scale should therefore be carried out in an industrial or utility facility and should show how the chosen new technical solutions can be scaled to different sizes of units and also be adapted in the future to alternative and renewable fuels.
