The Commission of the European Communities, DG XII (Science, Research and Development), issues a call for proposals for the Specific Programme of Research and Technological Development in the field of Life Sciences and Technologies for Developing Countries, (STD 3, 1990-1994). The two main areas of research covered by this call are:
- Improvement of living conditions;
- Improvement in health.
