As part of the implementation of the EU's MEDIA II programme to encourage the development and distribution of European audiovisual productions, the European Commission, DG X, is seeking proposals from audiovisual companies with a view to providing them with financial support for the publishing and distribution of European audiovisual works.

The Commission will offer funding to European companies whose activities contribute to the objectives of the MEDIA II programme, including:

- The reinforcement of the European distribution sector in the field of film, video, and multimedia productions;
- Encouraging the transnational distribution of European films and European audiovisual works and networking of agents;
- Promoting the circulation of European television works;
- Support for the multilingualism of audiovisual and film productions.
