Endocrine-disrupting chemicals may have serious adverse effects on human health and wildlife. However, this is an area of scientific uncertainty and numerous research projects are dedicated to the identification of the potential adverse effects of these chemicals. In order to assess the effects of certain specific chemicals, the European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender for a study which will pursue the following principle objectives: - To identify selection criteria and produce a list of suspected endocrine-disrupting chemicals; - To identify the sources/uses and pathways of human and wildlife exposure to these chemicals, and to quantify their production volumes; - To classify the list of suspected chemicals into high, medium and low concern. The study should be completed within nine months. For further information, please contact: European Commission DG XI - Environment, nuclear safety and civil protection Mr. B.
