Research boosts competitiveness
European MEP Henri de Lassus Saint Geniès (F, ERA) will be reporting for the Regional Policy Committee on the European Commission's paper on reinforcing competitiveness through research, technological development and demonstration (RTD) and innovation in the European Parliament on 24 February 1999. Mr de Lassus Saint Geniès stresses the importance of RTD in helping the more deprived regions and wants it to receive an appreciable share as a proportion of the Structural Fund allocation.
