Opportunities for work on Competitive and Sustainable Growth
The European Commission has launched a call for proposals under its Fifth Framework Programme (FP5) for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration (RTD) activities for the period 1998 to 2002 for indirect RTD Actions relating to the specific programme "Competitive and Sustainable Growth". These include: - Proposals with a fixed deadline. (Only proposals submitted before this deadline will be considered under the call notice); - Proposals under a continuous submission scheme, which will be evaluated at fixed intervals; - Expressions of interest for specific needs. Those eligible to participate in indirect RTD actions under the specific programme are invited to submit proposals that address the following three parts of the work programme: (Part One) - Key Action: Innovative products, processes and organisation. (The indicative budget for this key action is 150 million euro.): - - Efficient Production, including design, manufacturing and control; - - Intelligent production; - - Eco-efficient processes and design; - - Organisation of production and work. - Key Action: Sustainable mobility and intermodality (the indicative budget for this Key Action is 90 million euro.): - - Socio-economic scenarios for mobility of people and goods; - - Infrastructures and their interfaces with transport means and systems; - - Modal and intermodal transport management systems; - Key Action: Land transport and marine technologies. (The indicative budget for this Key Action is 80 million euro.): - - Development of critical technologies; - - Critical technologies for road and rail transport; - - Critical marine technologies; - - Technology integration and validation; - Key Action: New perspectives in aeronautics. (The indicative budget for this Key Action is 245 million euro.): - - Development of critical technologies; - - Reducing aircraft development cost and time to market; - - Improving aircraft efficiency; - - Improving environmental friendliness of aircraft; - - Improving operational capability and safety of aircraft; - - Technology integration and validation; - Generic Activities. (These have an indicative budget of 165 million euro.): - - Materials and their technologies for production and transformation; - - New and improved materials and production technologies in the steel field; - - Measurements and testing. Proposers may include an application for a Bursary for young researchers from Developing Countries. Information on this scheme is given in the Guide for Proposers. (Part 2) - Marie Curie Fellowships. (These have an indicative budget of 12 million euro.): - - Industry Host Fellowships; - - Experienced Researchers' Fellowships; - SME Specific Measures. (These have an indicative budget of 200 million euro): - - Exploratory Awards; - - Co-operative research; - Accompanying Measures. (These have an indicative budget 28 million euro.). (Part Three) - Expressions of interest for the needs of research: - - In support of European Standardisation: - - In support of the fight against fraud; - - Feasibility studies for certified reference materials; - Expressions of interest for the needs in support for research infrastructures - - Support activities to medium and large-scale facilities; - - Setting up of virtual institutes; - - Reference databases; - - Measurements and quality management infrastructures.
