MEDIA II calls for Automatic support for film distribution
The European Commission (EC), Directorate General X (Information, Communication, Culture and Audiovisual Media), has recently announced a call for proposals for "Automatic" support for the transnational distribution of European films. The call forms part of the European Commission's programme "Media II - development and distribution", which aims to promote and encourage the development and distribution of European audiovisual works. The objectives of the programme include: - Boosting the European film distribution sector; - Encouraging the transnational distribution of European films and networking among operators. The EC aims to achieve these objectives by implementing a support system for European distributors in proportion to ticket sales achieved by European films outside their national territory. The call is particularly aimed at European film-distribution companies. The call text explains how to obtain the necessary documents for submitting a proposal and applying for financial assistance from the Community through the system of "Automatic" support for distribution.
