Making the most of multimedia on the Internet
An international conference on "Internet and Multimedia: the present and future in the Caucasus" is set to take place in Tblisi, Georgia on 18 to 19 May 1999. The conference will deal with telecommunication infrastructure development strategies, development and distribution of multimedia software products, and perspectives of the application of telematics facilities in the spheres of education, medicine, environmental protection, media, trade, and the formation of a market. On 20 and 21 May, conference participants will also have an opportunity to take part in an international workshop (demonstration) on telematics applications, supported by the European Commission and UNESCO. The conference is being organised by the Georgian Research Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (Techniformi), the Business Communication Centre (BCC-Tblisi), the Multimedia Centre (MMC), and the Georgian Federation for Information and Documentation (GFID).
