Commission wants to launch a new IT magazine
The European Commission has published prior information on an invitation to tender for the provision of an information technology and management magazine. The Commission will shortly launch a call for tender aimed at selecting a number of organisations from all the Member States. These organisations may be private or public, universities, firms or associations. The call will cover the provision of services in connection with a new magazine which the Commission intends to publish, the subject of which will be "Information Technology and Management". The main target public of this magazine - which will include both practical and theoretical contributions - will consist of managers working in the European Commission and other European institutions. A two-year contract, with one possible renewal of one year, will be signed with each of the selected organisations. The contract will cover the provision of two different types of services: - Together with the Commission, the selected organisations will set up an editorial board, which will be in charge of the design and the selection of content of the magazine; - In the case of universities, each of them will set up a drafting committee which will coordinate and select contributions from authors at national level. These services will be provided on a non-profit making basis, apart from the reimbursement of travel expenses and the payment to individual authors of flat-rate sums per article published. The tender is expected to be published in June 1999.
