Subsidies totalling 1.5 million euro are being made available to non-profit-making study and research centres by the European Commission, DG XXII.

Calls for proposals for projects that reinforce European citizenship and encourage the active participation of citizens in integration are now open. The Commission expects to support between 50 and 80 projects, with a maximum subsidy per project of 100,000 euro.

Study and research centres located in Member States as well as NGOs and legally recognised associations bringing together teachers, researchers and students can apply.

The period of eligibility for expenditure related to projects funded from the 1999 budget will expire in October 2000.
