Proposals sought for ECSC technical coal research programme
Financial aid is now available for projects in the fields of mining engineering and coal utilisation. Under the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community, the European Commission administers a coal research programme. Up to 60% of the eligible costs of projects selected for support may be provided by the Community. Annual programmes are targeted to focus research efforts in high priority areas. For the 2000 programme the Commission is seeking collaborative research projects which improve the competitive position of coal whilst improving environmental protection. Projects must be carried out by at least two legal entities established in two different Member States. Proposals are invited in the following areas: 1. Mining engineering: - - Mining operations including mining technologies and mining environment technologies; - - Mine infrastructure and management including prospecting and exploration technologies, mine residues management and post mining site management; 2. Coal Utilisation: - - Coal preparation; - - Coal conversion; - - Combustion and gasification of coal.
