EMEA publishes its 1998 annual report
The European Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products (EMEA) has recently published its fourth general report on its activities during 1998. The EMEA aims to contribute to the protection and promotion of public and animal health through scientific research and the development of efficient procedures to allow users better access to products while, at the same time, controlling the safety of medicines. The report sets out the management board's activities and the Agency's partnership with national competent authorities as well as some more general aspects of the EMEA's work, including transparency and international activities. The report also describes the EMEA's operational and technical activities in the fields of human and veterinary medicine. It details the EMEA's technical coordination, including the work of the European Technical Office for Medicinal Products (ETOMEP) and the European Pharmacopeia Administration. Accounting matters are also reviewed. The EMEA has also recently published its work programme for the period 1999 to 2000.
