Overview of EU-funded human language technology projects
A report outlining all new and ongoing EU-funded Human Language Technologies (HLT) projects currently in progress is now available on the HLT central website. The report entitled 'Progress and Prospects 1999' brings together projects from Language Engineering R&D under the Fourth Framework Programme, the Multilingual Information Society programme (MLIS), Esprit and INCO (International Cooperation). It also highlights the importance of market sectors where HLT is expected to have a major impact. Calls for proposals later this year under User-friendly Information Society (IST) programme of the Fifth Framework Programme are expected to lead to a further increase in HLT R&D projects.
