Vital statistics for agriculture, environment and rural development
An on-line publication is now available from the European Commission which includes current facts and figures on the state of European agriculture, environment and rural development. The report is available on the Web, at: http://europa.eu.int/comm/dg06/envir/report/en/index.htm(odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie) The publication is the result of a close collaboration between three departments of the European Commission - Eurostat (the Commission's Statistics Office) and Directorates-General VI and XI. It deals with the functional link between agriculture and the environment and seeks to highlight available statistical information, in the main held by Eurostat, but also by the Commission's Joint Research Centre and other Commission departments. The Commission hopes the publication will contribute to debate and open up avenues for future work. Amongst others, it includes chapters on: - The challenge of integrating agricultural requirements into the common agricultural policy; - The impact of agri-environment measures; - Agriculture and climate change.
