In the second and final stage of its initiative to promote the best possible management of electronic resources in the European Union, the European Commission has published a call for tenders for 'the spread of best practices and the wider application of innovative solutions for electronic public procurement in the European Union'.

Additionally, the Commission wants to encourage the use of tools developed in the framework of the SIMAP project, which takes in search and retrieval mechanisms, purchaser profiles and Internet on-line notification.

This work is associated with the EU's IDA programme, which aims to encourage and develop telematic interchange of data between administrations in the EU.
