Statisticians who are interested in transport currently have an opportunity to apply their formulae to a range of aspects in the transport sector, as the European Commission's Statistical Office, Eurostat, has published three separate calls for tender for statistical services in this field.

The three tenders relate to the following areas:

- Development of the transport information system (including support for the production of the publication 'panorama of transport'): reference 99/S 154-112209/EN;
- Transport statistics (adaptation and implementation of a system to allow treatment of data collected by Eurostat, extending data collection to new states and preparing extensions to data collected. This also includes dissemination of the data.): reference 99/S 154-112210/EN;
- Development of EU passenger mobility statistics: reference 99/S 154-112211/EN.
