Work on the global vegetation monitoring wide-area radar processing and analysis chains
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission has recently announced a call for tenders for the upgrade, documentation and operation of the global vegetation monitoring wide-area radar processing and analysis chains. The invitation to tender includes a request for proposals to provide the JRC Global Vegetation Monitoring (GVM) Unit with technical services for the foreseen three-year time-span of the GEIS-GBFM project. The tasks required include: - Consulting for the upgrade of the geocoding, radiometric calibration and LSE block adjustment algorithms; - Modification of the existing software programmes as a function of new or adapted algorithms; - Documentation of the software modules; - Testing and validation; - Operation of the processing chain for the production of new radar maps of the Eurasian boreal forest; - Editing and compilation of presentation material on the new products, such as view graphs, posters, scientific papers. The mandate of the Global Vegetation Monitoring Unit within the EU's Fifth Framework Programme GEIS project (global environmental information systems) is to provide information on key marine and terrestrial resources at global scale and exploit earth observation from space.
