Interested companies or persons capable of providing detection equipment for radiation measurements are invited to submit expressions of interest for inclusion on a list of potential contractors, by the European Commissions Joint Research Centre. The Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements in Geel, Belgium, requires detection equipment for neutrons, gamma rays, X-rays, light-charged particles, fission fragments and beta rays for research purposes and for the characterisation of materials during radiation experiments. Principal activities include neutron measurements, neutron time-of-flight spectrometry, gamma and X-ray spectrometry, beta spectrometry, alpha spectrometry and fission-fragment spectrometry. Detection equipment includes germanium and silicon solid-state detectors, various types of scintillator detectors, ionization chambers and proportional counters. The call is divided into four lots encompassing the provision of germanium detectors, silicon solid-state detectors, scintillators for neutron physics work and scintillators for the detection of gamma rays. Detailed specifications for each order will be made on a case to case basis. Expressions of interest are invited from companies capable of supplying units specifically developed for or routinely used with proven success in conjunction with the detection equipment mentioned above. For each specific contract the awarding authority will send out tender documents and the invitation to tender to all applicants on the list, or to a sub section depending on the pre-selection criteria.
